20th Century Exhibition Piece

Conservation of decorative metal filigree exhibition piece.

This filigree exhibition piece contains 8,050 pieces of cold drawn seamless steel tubing taken from Accles and Pollock stock.

Built in 1935, it took 3 moths to construct.  According to employees George Price and Syd Smith "it just grew".  The filligree was exhibited at the World Trade Fair in 1939 in New York and remained there until the end of WWII.
