Colliery Safety Lamp Polishing Shop Cast Iron Arcade

We were selected to carry out a full condition survey of the cast iron components and supply a conservation method statement for repair.

ICR was retained as the main contractor to undertake the structural repairs and architectural restoration of the arcade


 Fractured castings as identified during the condition survey  
The Metalock cold stitching method was selected to repair the fractured castings Carefully sculpted steel insert plates were produced where original material had been lost.

 Fully restored cast iron arcade installed as an integral original element of the newly replicated lamp polishing shop  
An additional strand of the contract was to restore a period lamp polishing machine made by Acroyd and Best A replacement brush spindle and cone nut
Replacement friction drive plates were machined and fitted Traditionally manufactured natural bristle brushes and polishing mops were supplied and fitted
